MATHIEU DEBUCHY


Mathieu Debuchy is a French national football player, joined Arsenal at 17 July 2014 from Newcastle United. He used to play at right-back position, but he can also play as a defensive midfielder.

Before moving to Newcastle, Premier League club, in January 2013, he spent almost ten season of his football career in French league with the Lille.

He made his competitive debut for Arsenal in their 3-0 victory over defending league champions Manchester City in the 2014 FA Community Shield at Wembley Stadium on 10 August 2014. But he got injured several times, and in the last he be pulled over about three months since mid-January due to a severe injury in his shoulder against Stoke City.

Debuchy was born on 28 July 1985 at Fretin (France). He made his debut for France in October 2011, and since then has earned over 25 caps with France national team.

Debuchy was named for France national team to 2012 European Championships in Poland and Ukraine 2012 and 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. In Brazil, manager Didier Deschamps prefer Debuchy as the first option than Bacary Sagna for right-back.
 
Arsenal loaned Debuchy to Bordeaux (France) in February 2016. But, after finishing his half-season loan Debuchy returned to Arsenal at July. On 31 January 2018, six months before the expiry of his contract with Arsenal, Debuchy joined Ligue 1 club AS Saint-Étienne on a free transfer.*
