Szczesny Deny Barcelona Moving and Captaincy Rumours

Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny mocked reports linking him with a move away from Arsenal. He also denied had said he deserved to be the Arsenal captain.

"Please continue the 'Szczesny to Barcelona' rumours. It makes me laugh every time I read it!" he said by his Twitter.

On Tuesday, wide-spread reports stated that Szczesny was, though not immediately, looking to move to European champions Barcelona.

The rumors emerged after was quoted by polskathetimes.pl that he would welcome the chance to move to Barcelona. "I can't declare that I will spend my entire career here, but if I leave I will have a very important reason or I will go to Barcelona." he told polskathetimes.pl.

Certain reports also raised question marks over his position on Robin Van Persie captaining the Arsenal side, as he was quoted as saying he would welcome the chance to lead the team.

About this issue, the 21-year-old said, “I never said I deserve the Arsenal armband. I said that I would love to one day take the responsibility of being an Arsenal skipper. RVP [Robin van Persie] is doing a great job as a skipper and he fully deserves the armband."

Wojciech Tomasz Szczęsny was born at Warsaw (Poland), 18 April 1990. He is a number one goalkeeper of Arsenal and the Poland national football team. His father, Maciej Szczęsny, is former Polish goalkeeper

Szczesny signed a new long-term contract at Emirates Stadium in November 2010, having firmly established himself as Arsene Wenger’s first-choice goalkeeper.
