Djorou Ruled Out This Season

JOHAN DJOROU is stretchered off at Old Trafford

Arsenal defender Johan Djourou has been ruled out for the rest of the season after dislocating his shoulder in the during Saturday’s 0-2 defeat to Manchester United.

Sliding in to deny Javier Hernandez, Djorou was clattered by team-mate Bacary Sagna and was stretchered off after receiving long treatment on the field.

"Sadly we have lost Djourou now for the rest of the season," manager Arsene Wenger confirmed.
The Gunners were forced to play with ten men in the rest of the match, having used all three substitutes.

Johan Djorou now joining fellow centre-back Thomas Vermaelen on the Arsenal injury list. It is the second serious injury for Djorou after he missed nearly all of the 2009-2010 season with a severe knee injury.

Now, Wenger must depend on the French duet of Laurent Koscielny and Sebastien Squillaci for Arsenal center back as Arsenal turn their focus to the Premier League. Actually Ignasi Miguel is still there, but the Spanish is too young and less experience to perform in the Premier League.  The 18 years old defender now in reserved squad and played several times in the Carling Cup.

Johan Djorou was born on 18 January 1987 in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. But he was later adopted by his father's first wife Daniele, a Swiss woman. They moved to Geneva when he was 17 months old. He signed scholarship forms for the Arsenal Academy when he was 15 years old. He officially joined Arsenal as a professional on 1 August 2003.

Djorou was a member of the Swiss under-19 squad that reached the semi-finals of the 2004 European Championships.
