Walcott: Why I want Barcelona rematch

THEO WALCOTT: Scoring against Barcelona last season

Robin van Persie says 'bring on Barcelona', Emmanuel Eboue says it doesn't matter who Arsenal get in the Champions League and Arsène Wenger refuses to be drawn on the matter.

Theo Walcott? He's siding with his Dutch team-mate. The 21-year-old gave Barcelona a real fright last season, coming off the bench to inspire a fightback in the first leg at Emirates Stadium and setting up the opening goal for Nicklas Bendtner in the Nou Camp before Lionel Messi took over.

Now Walcott wants another crack at the Catalans to gain a measure of revenge for that Quarter-Final exit last year.

"Some people hope we don't get Barcelona because we don’t want them to do what they did to us last season," he said. "But for me I would love to go back there and show them what we are all about this season.

"I think we have had great experience and now we can progress. The team has improved, new personnel have come in and we’ve been fortunate with injuries this season. We want to win some silverware for the fans because they have waited too long.

"As long as we don’t get Barcelona on a day when they play Real Madrid like that [when Barca won El Clasico 5-0 last week], they were fantastic that day. It doesn’t matter to us. We will play anyone, we will enjoy ourselves and try and win the game.

"In previous years we have always finished top of our group so it will be slightly different for us [to face a group winner in the last 16] but if you want to be the best you have to play the best and we want to go that one step further."
