Jack Wilshere has a chance to start for England

Jack Wilshere could make his first start for England in next Wednesday’s friendly against France, according to Arsène Wenger.

The 18-year-old has caught the eye while establishing himself as an Arsenal regular this season and his manager sees no reason why he shouldn’t start for Fabio Capello’s team after making his debut against Hungary in August.

“I think he is ready at least to have a chance,” said Wenger.

“Of course it is good for him to feel he is part of the national team, and he has a chance because in friendlies you can look at players.

“If he is selected, he will certainly have a chance to play.

“He is a player who had an exceptional start to the season, has given a lot and has full commitment, a good combination of talent, intelligence and he is still very young.”*
