Almunia is not leaving Arsenal

Arsenal coach Arsène Wenger insists that Manuel Almunia isn’t leaving Arsenal, and nor is anyone else for that matter.

The goalkeeper hasn’t played since the end of September due to an elbow injury and as he nears a return the manager says there is no question about his future at the Club. Though he did admit Almunia will have to prove himself when he does start training, which could be as early as next week.

And Wenger had a humorous way of explaining the situation to journalists at his press conference ahead of the trip to Goodison Park.

“I think at the moment what we are focused on is to win together with the squad we chose at the start of the season,” he said. “You ask me ‘we are on a train, who wants to go to the terminal station and that means nobody moves out when the train is moving.’

“When the train comes into that station I promise we will all come off the train!” joked Wenger.*
