Petr Čech is a Czech professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Premier League club Arsenal. He is the former captain for the Czech Republic national team. He is the most capped player in the history of the Czech national team with 124 caps, and represented the country at the 2006 World Cup, as well as the 2004, 2008, 2012, and 2016 European Championships.

He was born at Plzeň, Czechoslovakia on 20 May 1982. Before joined Arsenal, he has previously played for Chmel Blšany, Sparta Prague, Rennes and Chelsea.

He joined Chelsea in 2004 and made 486 official appearances for the club. With Chelsea, Čech won four Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three Football League Cups, one UEFA Europa League and one UEFA Champions League. Čech kept a club record 220 clean sheets for Chelsea in all competitions.

He moved to Arsenal at 2015–16 season on a four-year contract on 29 June 2015, for a fee of around £10 million. Widely recognized as one of the world’s best goalkeepers, Petr quickly established himself as Arsenal’s first-choice during his debut campaign in north London.

Petr broke David James’s all-time Premier League clean-sheet record with his 170th shut-out against Bournemouth in December 2015, and was voted Czech Republic Player of the Year for the eighth time after helping his country qualify for the 2016 European Championship.

Cech married Martina Dolejšová (now Čechová) (b. 1982), also of Czech nationality, in June 2003.They have a daughter Adéla (b. 2008) and a son Damián (b. 2009), both born in the Czech Republic. Along with his native Czech, Čech also speaks English, French, German and Spanish.
 
Peter Cech left the arsenal in 2019 after his contract expired. He is now a technical and performance advisor for Chelsea, his old club.*
